Wow, what a birthday bash! The fourth episode of >2 on the 27th of July doubled as Kabanatang Ilaw’s 76th birthday party, and even though our church’s youth organization is as old as our grandparents, we’re very much young at heart, to the point that the Executive Committee of >2 were at their cutest in their children’s party costumes! Our energy and passion for fellowship and raising the Lord’s name is stronger and burning brighter than ever!
This energy was quickly visible as everybody was jumping and singing their praise during Worship, and this enthusiasm was carried on to our Work It, which we called Extra Jaws– where our attendees sorted themselves into 5 groups of 9 and were given 4 rubber mats. They had to cross the ocean (actually just the room) standing only on those mats, or else Kuya EA (in a shark hat) and the other facilitators would give them a tug and send them back to the starting line! After much exchanging of strategy and sweat, all 5 groups were able to journey across the room.
District Superintendent and Minister of Youth Danny Victoria spoke on the qualities of a true leader, and how he saw that, like traversing a shark-infested ocean, we will experience great troubles and difficulties; but we should continue entrusting our lives to God, and He will guide us to becoming the future leaders of the IEMELIF church. We all felt that He was calling to us.
For Worthwhile, the ExeCom presented a song from their childhood years– Psalty the Singing Songbook’s “One Step At A Time”. Even though they performed in quite a humorous manner, the message was serious and clear– we are climbing the mountain of our ministry as young leaders one step at a time, with Jesus at our side.
Just when everybody thought it was over, >2 still had more surprises up its sleeve. “Drumroll please,” we said, as we unveiled… the Graffitti Wall! Everyone was invited to write their affirmations, testimonies, and >2 experiences. DS Danny inaugurated the wall with this very inspiring message: “bear ye each other’s burden.” What a fitting message to our future ministers, and to the rest of the youth! But that’s not all! We also witnessed the premiere performance of >2’s theme song, called (what else?) “More Than Two”! Even though it was the first time anybody has heard it, it was extremely catchy and it immediately stuck to everybody’s minds.
Truly, last Sunday was one of the most memorable episodes in >2’s history! We had a record-breaking attendance of 61, the launch of the theme song and the Graffitti Wall, and we were all witnesses to the FyouthTURE!
KEEP COMING BACK, GOD IS HERE WITH US!
