“A day without laughter is a wasted day” as the famous comedian Charlie Chaplin would say. Everybody had a dose of laughter on >2’s Jesus as A Comedian episode last October 19. The event turned out extra special as >2 celebrates Jimbo’s birthday at the same time (pa-burger ka naman! ;p).

The intimate youth from Katedral and some friends from Novaliches kicked the fellowship with  lively songs of praise from the ICTHUS Band. From the start, the band played some tricks on the crowd having the theme of comedy. Still, can nothing can stop these people from singing aloud to our Lord.

As the thread goes, this episode’s Work It gets a little bit cranky with the people forming into groups and acting out a mime altogether. Funny and wacky situations were given to see the most hilarious faces out of these youth. All of them had a hard time dealing with laughter plus the factor of acting the situation out. Definitely, nobody can beat the mimes (EA Lazaro & Jimbo Pante) and somewhat somber but amusing Joker (Jars Cristobal) when they got to perform their masterpiece on stage. Everyone found it comical and a boisterous laughter filled the hall.

For the Word Up, the speaker was not very foreign to anybody. Our very own Ptr. Ding Cristobal lead the gathering with a share of some whimsical encounters with Jesus as a Comedian. He spoke about how Jesus was with the people. That Jesus was a serious man that was never seen laughing. Ptr. Ding changed the way of how we looked on Jesus as a solemn man every time. Jesus is not always that contemplative but He is also humorous at instances. The word up turned out so well that the merriment could not stop. Hahahahahaha!

The Worthwhile prepared was turning a serious incident into something funny. Ptr. Ding gave us a few bites on how it was done based on his own encounter. It was not easy thinking of it since the situation was very deliberate but still somebody managed to share about their experiences regarding the matter.

There was still energy left to sing the >2 theme song after having some fish crackers and a glass full of tanglad as they call it. Now these people can’t wait for the next >2 on November 9th, the Jesus as a Demon-@$$ Kicker episode where a costume party will be part of the gathering. Best costume will be awarded on the same day. So put your best suit forward next >2!

October 12, 2008. Pass D’ Msg was launched in the Novaliches Beulah land Center, organized by the newly-awakened Kabanatang Sulo.  Having Titus 1:3 as the inspiration for this youth-oriented fellowship, Kabanatang Sulo has been appointed by God to bring His word to light.

It can’t be denied that Pass D’ Msg is and was somehow motivated by More Than Two.  One of our objectives is to bring new and radical ways and ideas to the youth of other IEMELIF churches to revive the once strong and powerful flame of the Kabataan.  We are so glad to be a part of a fresh addition to the growing fellowship between the youth of Novaliches IEMELIF!

Too bad, we arrived quite late in the activity.  But we got to experience the Seek and Seal portion of the program.  And the pandan drink and the tasty bread :) According to the beloved emcee, Kuya Gamz, the program is divided into 4 parts: Praise, Act, Seek and Seal.  In short, PASS :) The Seek part was lead by Deac. Grace and she talked about on how the Kabanatang Sulo is a light in darkness.  This applies to all the youth of IEMELIF, having the theme Next In Line in the last camp.  Later, in the Seek part, a “Miss Piggy” was introduced to all of us.  We fed her with our personal contributions to Pass D’ Msg, hoping the small contribution from our pockets will help them on their future projects :)

All in all, it was a fun afternoon for all the attendees, all 54 (Nova friends, correct me if I’m wrong) of them.  Youth coming from different congregations around Quezon City namely Banlat, FCL, Bagong Silang, Katedral (we tackled the bumpy roads of Novaliches just to get there! Haha! As EA said, “parang Safari ride lang yan!” We’re not from QC, though) and, of course, Novaliches.

Again, we, the More Than Two Family, would like to congratulate our brothers and sisters from Kabanatang Sulo for a successful launch of Pass D’ Msg! Congratulations, friends! We love you! (yes, with the love of the Lord! Haha!)

We hope to see you guys on October 19th, for a second dose of the Jesus As… series, Jesus As A Comedian!

I’m down with the one that is known as The Son

As John Lennon would say, “I get by with a little help from my friends”. On last Sunday’s More Than Two episode Jesus As A Friend, we further understood how we get by with, not little but a lot of help from our very special friend, Jesus.

The fellowship started off with Team >2 grooving to reggae beats as they played songs such as One Love and Jammin’ by Bob Marley; I am A Friend of God and What a Friend We Have in Jesus, reggae-fied! Then we had a taste of each >2-er’s unforgettable childhood memory in a rasta hat! Some were really funny, some were stupid but all of us surely had a fun time laughing our hearts out.

The speaker, our very own Kuya Ronald Gonzales, discussed how Jesus is the greatest friend one could have. He first told us the definition of the word ‘friend’ then he said that Jesus is all of that. The greatest thing a friend could and would do for another friend is to die for him/her. And only Jesus has done that. Not just for one person, but for all of us here on earth. Jesus said (in John chapters 12-14), “Now I tell you to love each other, as I have loved you. The greatest way to show love for friends is to die for them. And you are my friends, if you obey me.”

For our Worthwhile, the questions left to us were: are we a friend to Jesus? How do people see me as a friend? A piece of bond paper was placed in the back of each >2-er and we were asked to roam around, writing something, a description on how that person is as a friend. Everybody was excited to read the paper behind their backs, to know what the others wrote about them. The hall was full of laughter and awwws when we read our papers. It was a pleasurable sight to see, the smile on peoples’ faces, the giggles shared by friends, the glory of God in the worship hall. We realized that no one, no one is a better friend than Jesus.

Each one of us is a living testimony of Jesus’ love. He is our best friend. Why? Because He died for us.

So, we’ll see you on our next episode, Jesus as a Comedian, the second episode of our Jesus As… Series with Ptr. Ding as our [hilarious] speaker. This will be on October 19, 2008, same time, same place: 4pm at the Morga Worship Hall. See you then!
