An Auction and More!

“Faith isn’t faith until it’s all you’re holding on to.”

We started with the Ichtus band leading the fellowship in singing praises to our God. A missed >2-er was back and played with the band, Ate Aby! with songs like Better than Life and Made Me Glad, for being together in >2 and praising God always made everyone glad.

Our Work It was a different one this episode. Each person was asked by our auctioneer, Kuya Jars, to write the 10 most valuable items you own in pieces of paper. These important items will be the substitute for money, but since those things have a different importance than plain money, they are harder to let go of. The items being auctioned were gift certificates which entitles the highest bidder safety and security, love of a family , inner peace and a lot more.

For our Word Up, Diac. Francia talked about following God, and when we do it, we should not let anything get in our way. Referring from the passage Matthew 8:22, But Jesus told him, “Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead.”, where Jesus is telling a disciple the cost of following Him. You should think of nothing else when you decide to follow Jesus. It is either you follow Him without excuses or not follow Him at all.

In conclusion, we had a pledge to sign: our Statement of Faith, where everyone wrote something they would promise to do to in continuing their service to God.

Sorry seems to be the hardest word

3 words with 9 letters,  a very short but meaningful phrase. Some might not have enough courage to say such words, but in the latest episode of >2, Kuya Jimbo taught us how to say it wholeheartedly! The event turned out to be extra special as >2 celebrates Ate Aie’s 18th burger, err, birthday! XD [di ka man nagpa-burger, nagpa-dinner ka naman! :]

As a fire starter, the team >2 led everyone into singing praises for God. With the lyric striking songs, the band shouts out about His glory with songs like Hosanna and How Great is our God the tagalized version as popularized by Chris Tomlin last  Passion :: Manila 2008. That fever is going way too long in our hearts! :)

This episode’s Work It, tests our artistic/drawing skills which turned out to be everybody’s weakness! As instructed, everybody must draw 3 persons either beside, back or in front of them. We must draw those certain people according to what we see and as beautiful as we can. But since we can’t, we have to stick to how others drew us on paper! Showing everybody how we drew him or her has a purpose, and finally, Miles shouted the magic words, “I’m sorry, Kuya Jars!”, as she showed Kuya Jars how she drew him out.

Seriously, few people got that. XD Moving on to our Word Up, for the second time, Kuya Jimbo shared certain things about Forgiveness. As the Bible says,

“Repent of this wickedness and pray to the Lord. Perhaps He will forgive you for having such a thought in your heart.” – Acts 8:22

In this scripture,  it reminds us how God forgives us for all our sins. All we must do is repent and pray. Same as what Peter asked our Daddy Jesus on how many times shall he forgive those who sinned against him, Jesus answered that we must forgive them seventy times seven. This is a representation that we must be always ready to forgive, like God does, He forgives us to every sin we do.

For the Worthwhile, everybody gathered in groups to share when was the hardest time for you to say sorry. A group then discussed childhood memories that they can’t forget how they said sorry to those they have offended. It was really funny but then again, reminding everybody, how polite is it to say sorry, not only to the person/s we have offended but also to Him. He is the ultimate sin bearer/forgiver of our lives.

Simon says…

Have you ever played Simon says when you were younger? It was real fun especially when the Simon (the one who calls out the things/tasks to do) gives out crazy stuff to do. In this 8:22 series, episode of Following, we had a special version and relevance of Simon says, not only to follow Simon, but obeying Jesus Christ.

Last >2 we have proved that “For more than two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.”
How it became so true, in the second episode of the 8.22 series which is Following.

With the Ichtus band conquering the praise and worship songs, the line-up was truly perfect in firing up the souls of everyone. Though small in number, the passion grew quickly in KI’s hearts.

As for the Work it, the crowd was divided into two groups, brainstorming of what wacky things the opposing group can do. Everbody had a share of their funny following moments when they heard what the caller had called out to do. Some had a hard time doing all the 9 tasks each group had given. As a whole, everybody had a laughtrip while watching those who were assigned to do the specific task. It was really hard for them to concentrate on the task beacuse they were blindfolded. The Work it turned out to be successful when everybody gave a hand for themselves for being good followers.

(P.S. The caller’s job was so easy, all they have to do is call out ;p)

For this episode’s Word Up, they had someone “new” to do the talking. She was not new to >2 but she was new to speaking for the Word Up. We had Ate Hannah Lazarte to talk about “Following”, not only our managers, teachers, and parents but we must also follow the One, Jesus Christ. With her reference text, Matthew 8:22 which says, But Jesus told him, “Follow me”, Ate Hannah explained the meaningness of following and how important is it, especially to us Christians who are followers of Christ. Ate Hannah’s talk might be very concise but it had been a blessing both and inspiration for us to continue following.

Wrapping it up with the Worthwhile, two groups talked about the circumstances in where or when we find it hard to follow. A very interesting share from Ate Noemie’s group brought up the recent celebration of IEMELIF as a good illustration of follwing. She said that without a the workers and member of IEMELIF following Christ, IEMELIF wouldn’t be standing and celebrating its 100th year. It was a true inspiration and example of what obeying can do, it can strengthen not only a church but also a believer. A good way of summing up this episode’s lesson of following.
