“The supreme accomplishment is to blur the line between work and play.”
- Arnold Toynbee

One of our ultimate goals in life, as young ones, is to graduate college, finish our schooling and to get a job that would provide for our needs and wants in the future. And this episode on God’s Will in your Career helped us to understand more on what feild of study to choose and how to get the right job for us after we graduate.

Ichtus Band led the >2ers as we worship our God through prayer and praise. After which, we played Human Bingo, roaming around the room searching for people and their career choice and filling up our “bingo cards”. It was chaotic, but that what makes it so fun! Haha! It’s a bit disappointing when you only need one last person to finish your card :))

We had a special guest speaker for this episode. She is Tita Rea Cristobal and she talked about finding God’s Will in our career and/or field of study. There are several issues affecting our decisions in this matter, such as our financial needs, our abilities, the posssible jobs to get in line with our course in college, fulfillment and personal passions, our parent’s wishes and the will of God. She said that there is nothing wrong with getting a high paying job and what is wrong is making career decisions based primarily on future income considerations. So the the question is: how do we weigh income against career satisfactory? and the answer: should one be chosen over the other?

So how do we choose which career or field of study to pursue? first we have to look at our God-given talents and our KSA: Knowledge, Skills and Attitude. And therefore we should ASK ourself and God if we have the knowledge, skills and the right attitude for a certain career. Tita Rea reminded our parents that we are not their second chance, which was, needed somehow to be heard by some parents nowadays. Hehehe. Also, it was made clear that a big problem in our society today is job mismatch, something we MUST avoid.

Again, as a uniform Worthwhile activity for this series, we had our panel after the talk. With Ptrs. Jonah and Ding, Diac. Francia, Tita Rea, Pred. Rene Cristobal also joined the panel, being in the recruitment business.

Yes or No?

“God put a song in your heart. As long as you’re singing and dancing with the song God placed, then it’s His will.”
- Ptr. Ding

Decisions, decisions, decisions: we make lots of them throughout our lives. Some may be big and life changing decisions, some may be small but not totally meaningless choices (like what food to buy when you are in the canteen or in a food court, let’s say), but nontheless, decision making is still decision making. And last >2 episode, we were guided on how to make the right decision and how God’s will for us help us in making the right decisions.

With Team >2 leading the Worship! section of our fellowship, (though, unfortunately, our LCD projector was absent )
we sang Solution, a new song from The Lads–Call My Name, an all time favorite–I Could Sing of Your Love, and another one from the Hillsong United, Shout Your Fame.

Work It! was something else. (!!!) It was, I’m sure no one would feel otherwise when I say this, one of the best Work It!s we have ever had. Led and facilitated by Tito Butch Bautista, we played a game where our decision is very VERY important for it will give us, well, imaginary money. Betting X’s and Y’s, multiplying points to 3, 5 and then 10, strategies between partners, strategies between the groups; it was a fun game to play! At the end of the game, Ate Hannah and Kuya Jimbo made a scene by killing each other, figuratively. Haha! Oh, and let us not forget: our partners for that game will be our prayer partner until the end of this series, the Blueprints Series. It is comforting to know that someone out there is praying for you and you praying for him/her.

Tito Jun Gonzales soon after the Work It gave us an inspiring message on decision making, filled with personal insights and experiences. He gave us the Eight Road Signs for Decision Making that will help us a lot.
1) Surrender to God’s Word
2) Pray diligently and consistently [Matt. 7:7-8]
3) Allow the Holy Spirit’s indwelling in your heart [John 14:17, 26]
4) Pay attention to the circumstances of divine providence (meaning fate or destiny) [Rom. 8-28]
5) Expect God’s peace in your heart [1 John 5:14-15, Phil. 4:7]
6) Accept godly desires God gives you [Psalms 37:4]
7) Listen to godly advice from dedicated christians [Prov. 11:14]
8) Common Sense [2 Tim. 1:7]

Tito Jun left this in our hearts: How to know His will? Walk in the Spirit; daily bible reading and prayer. “Life is not a series of chances but of choices. But we are always given chances by our God.”

To learn further about the topic, our Worthwhile was an open forum with Ptr. Ding, Diak. Francia, Tito Jun, Tito Butch and Ptr. Jonah as our panelists. Questions such as “Is it ok to ask for signs from God?” and “How would you know if you made the right decision?” were asked. (For the benefit of those who weren’t present, the panelists answered that it is ok to ask for signs from God for people in the Bible also did that in the past; and you would know if the decision you made is right if you have PEACE within you after making the decision.) It was a very fruitful discussion for we learned a lot from the questions asked and the answers given by the panel.
